I'm sorry to bother you, but I hear you've been to the Limerick art school there a few years ago. Does it actually do anything 'comic' related there? Panel layouts? Inking? Or does it just stick with more 'tradtional' concepts (i.e anatomy, painting, etc). I'm thinking of getting in there myself, and any information you can provide me in this regard would be most helpful.

Hey man,

You heard correctly sir, I did go to LSAD; graduated in 2003.

No, it doesn't do anything comic related; it's a traditional art college as you described. Moreso in the first year; after that you specialise in a specific discipline (painting, print, fashion, etc). A degree in art doesn't matter to editors when you show them your work so for a long time I started to thing I wasted my time in art college.

BUT, if you're raised on comics (like I was) doing an art course that is NOT comics can really benefit you. It opens you up to all kinds of influences and I now know that if I hadn't gone to art college, I wouldn't be as good an artist as I am today. As long as you make the most of it, learn all you can and stay motivated. Hope this helps :)
