ICN AWARDS

Seems I've gotten popular in my neck of the woods. Just found out that I was awarded 'Best Published Mainstream Irish Artist' and was named in the 'Hall Of Fame' in this year's ICN AWARDS. The awards are for Irish comic creators, so of course it's great to know that so many folks at home are supportive of myself and my work. Thanks to all who voted for me, it is very much appreciated.

Best,

EAGLE AWARD NOMINATION

Hey, guess what; i've been nominated for Favourite Newcomer Artist in this year's Eagle Awards. *Very* surprising; i wasn't even fishing for it this year.

Won't get it as i'm competing with the artist of Phonogram (Jamie McKelvie) and of Ultimate Spiderman (David LaFuente), but i'm chuffed to be nominated. Great seeing Irelans represented, with old school-chum John Cullen nominated in the same category, and both Mike Lynch and Rí-Rá getting nominations too. Do go vote for your favourite at the Eagle Awards website.

FRANKENSTEIN WINS U.S. AWARD

Just heard Frankenstein received an award on Friday; given by the Association of Educational Publishers in America, for Distinguished Achievement in grades 9-12. I've been told very notable educational publisher enters these awards, so for Classical Comics to win with their first attempt is a great accomplishment.

Congratulations to Clive Bryant, Jason Cobely, Jon Haward, Jason Cardy, Kat Nicholson and everyone else involved. This is great news.

FRANKENSTEIN NOMINATED FOR AWARD

Good news everyone (said in Professor Farnsworth voice); it seems FRANKENSTEIN has been nominated for a CYBILS award.
CYBILS (Children’s and Young Adult Bloggers’) are Web awards for children's literature judged by a panel of 100 bloggers.
The 2008 Nominations for Graphic Novels (Young Adult) include the newly released Frankenstein. It's got some pretty stiff competition. In the same category are Classical Comics' A Christmas Carol, Jayne Eyre and Macbeth. Not only that, but the fantastic Y The Last Man, Cameron Stewart's The Apocalipstix and the absolutely stunning Three Shadows by Cyril Pedrosa are all up against old Frankie. Poor Frankie doesn't stand a chance!
A full list of nominations are available here.
