DS ON THE TV
Earlier today I was on RTE ONE's Morning Edition programme discussing Irish Comics. I'd like to think it's worth a watch. You can see the whole programme on the RTE Player or just listen to the section on it's own (blurrier video) below.

MORNING EDITION
Hey folks, if you live in Ireland and are near a TV on Friday morning, tune into RTE ONE around 9.00AM where I'll be discussing Irish Comics along with Lightning Strike editor Eoin McAuley. It will also be streaming afterwards on the in the RTE Player later in the day.
Also, the lecture in Trinity that I was part of last week was recorded by the good folk of the Irish Pubcast. See here to listen to the panel and Q and A in full. It was good fun.

IRISH COMIC BOOK MONTH: TRINITY LECTURE
In case you didn't know, March is Irish Comic Book Month. Hope everyone supports some Irish comics this month! To celebrate this, the good folk at Lightning Strike and Atomic Diner are holding a talk discussing Irish Comic Book production. Guests include myself, Stephen Mooney, Robert Curley, Darrin O'Toole, Robert Carey and Ciarán Marcantonio so a wide spectrum of Irish comics are covered; from those working in mainstream comics, to creator owned comics, to self-published comics, etc.
The Lecture will be hosted in the Trinity Arts Building, Room 2041B, The Uí Chadhain Lecture at 7.15pm. Free for all to attend; just make sure you get there early as i believe places are limited. Hope to see ye there.

SUMMER EDITION 2010

Next Saturday I'll have a table at Summer Edition 2010.
I went to the first event last year, and it was a great auld day. Since I'm back in Ireland I thought I should make the most of it and get a table this year. I'll be doing sketches, selling various comics/books I've done, and sure I might show a sneak peek of the Thunderbolts pages I'm currently working on.
There's LOTS of interesting artists participating; check the list of exhibitors here.
So make sure you come by Filmbase, Temple Bar in Dublin town on the 24th of July between 11 and 5pm. It's FREE-in for godsake!

DUBLIN COMICS JAM

The Dublin Comics Jam blog has an update of its pub-drawing antics. I pitched in myself this month. Here's a jam piece by myself, the uber-talented Chris Judge, Barry Hughes, Phil Barrett ....and i'm not sure who did the small figure.
Oh, and Bob Byrne.
Check the blog to see this months and previous months craziness.

RÍ-RÁ
I forgot to mention that when i got to the signing back in Ennis, there were copies of the new Irish-language comic that i did a page for ages ago called Rí-Rá

Cover to Rí-Rá by Aidan Courtney
The comic in question is a free #0 sample and it turned out great. Aidan Courtney, the editor, has compiled the comic in an effort to establish an ongoing anthology Irish language comic much in the same vein as European comics in France, Belgium, etc. The sample has work from top European cartoonist Dab, along with Irish creators like Bob Byrne, Alan Nolan, Ian Whealan and myself.

"Níl," the one-page strip i did for Rí-Rá.
Special mention must go to fello Ennis creators, writer Mike Lynch and artist John Cullen who also contributed a story. Here's a little known fact; i used to deliver gas and briquettes to Mike in my days as a coalman and i used to be in art class with John back in my days in the CBS (Christian Brothers School)....... good times....
Rí-Rá will be available at the Dublin City Comic Con in just over a weeks time. Be sure to pick up a copy.

GOOD TIMES

Ah childhood... bless....
This is the cover to the upcoming Irish Comics Anthology. Freak Show creator Rob Curley asked if i could contribute a story. I didn't have the time so he offered me the cover, which was nice of him. Didn't want to do a really 'twee' image, but wanted something 'irish.' Went for something kinda sentimental like this fella.
I really like it. I may be alone on this though.
